Dr. Prashant Agnihotri

Dr. Prashant S Agnihotri is a distinguished Eye Specialist with over three decades of experience in the field of Ophthalmology. Based in Nagpur, he has been practising at the Retina Care Hospital since 1985. He is also associated with the Siddharth Institute of Medical Sciences in Vijayawada as Visiting Professor and Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, where he imparts training in the field of advanced eye care. In the course of his professional career, Dr. Agnihotri also worked at the Moorsfield Eye Hospital in the United Kingdom, as part of the "Ambassador of Goodwill GSE Award"” bestowed on him by the Rotary Club.

Dr. Agnihotri has an MBBS and an MS (Ophthalmology) as his main qualifications, obtained in 1976 and 1980 respectively. He is a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS). In addition, he is a Fellow of the Retina Foundation (FRF). Besides having much experience and expertise in all routine areas of Ophthalmology, Dr. Agnihotri has a special interest in the area of retina vitreous and refractive surgery.

Dr. Agnihotri has been regularly invited as a guest speaker at various medical meets in India and internationally. He was the India representative at the SOE Meet in Geneva, where for the first time the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) was given a two-hour session by the European Society of Ophthalmology - he chaired the session and made a presentation as well. Besides having conducted courses at the AIOS annual conference several times, he has spoken at AIOS events almost every year for the last 25 years. Dr. Agnihotri has been the recipient of several professional and social awards over the years. He plans to devote more time in the future to teaching and training the next generation of ophthalmologists in the country.

Dr. Prashant Agnihotri has been actively involved in social and community activities throughout his career, such as the Sight First project of the Lions Club. He has adopted the Panchvati Ashram, a home for geriatrics with around 110 occupants, for their eye care and social needs. For 38 years he has also helped in running the Ramayan Pariksha Kendra, which offers teachings of the Ramayana (the epic Hindu scripture on the life of Lord Rama) to students of all faiths.

After three decades in the medical profession, Dr. Agnihotri now has a new passion in the game of golf, and has achieved considerable success in it, having won the Shri Baidyanath Cup at the AKSC Golf Course in 2012 and the Tigers Cup at the Kamptee Golf Course in 2013.
